Studies show that:
Children who participated in a minimum of 250 hours of a language program were judged to be fluent in their second language.
Children who had completed a minimum of 150 hours of a language program were placed in the third level or higher of their high school programs.
Children who participated in at least 75 hours of a language program were better able to distinguish the unique sounds of new languages and were better able to reproduce new sounds. Children who studied a foreign language prior to adolescence demonstrated stronger mental function and achieved higher standardized test scores. Children that participated in a language program for 100 hours from Kindergarten through 5th grade earned A's in their high school foreign language classes and found it to be one of their "easier" subjects.
